The following organizations have funded or worked with Sustainable Development Institute to pursue its goals and objectives.

Department for International Development (DFID) is the UK international development aid agency. The goal of DFID is to promote sustainable development and eliminate world poverty. It was separated from the foreign office in 1997.

SWEDBIO is a joint initiative by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and the Swedish Biodiversity Centre (CBM), focusing on biodiversity and ecosystem services for local livelihoods and poverty alleviation.

ICCO: works towards a world in which people live in dignity and prosperity, a world where poverty and injustice are no longer present. The organization co-operates with church and non-church organizations which are directly involved with the people, our prime target group.

FERN (Brussels), created in 1995, keeps track of the EU's involvement in forests and co-ordinate NGO activities at the European level. FERN focuses on the underlying causes of forest loss, including financial flows, the international trade in timber and other forest products, and government policies.

Global Witness (UK) exposes the corrupt exploitation of natural resources and international trade systems, to drive campaigns that end impunity, resource-linked conflict, and human rights and environmental abuses. Global Witness seeks to break the links between the exploitation of natural resources, and conflict and corruption
